Cisco official has released the new CCNP SP Operations exam. It includes four exam: 642-770,642-775,642-780 and 642-785 exams.
Availability: CCNP SP Operations Certification will be made available in the late July of 2010.
The CCNP SP Operations certifications validates knowledge and skills required (of a Tier II or Tier III support engineer) to troubleshoot and maintain service provider IP NGN core (PE-PE and PE-CE) network infrastructures. With a CCNP SP Operations certification, a network professional demonstrates the knowledge and skills required to isolate network performance problems, implement proactive fault measures using operations management processes, frameworks, and network management systems. The CCNP SP Operations curriculum includes maintaining carrier class routing protocol environments, MPLS VPN and TE deployments, and QoS mechanisms using Cisco IOS and IOS XR.
CCNP SP Operations Certification benefits:
• Certification helps qualify personnel for customers Operations Centers
• Certification classes provide a developmental path for personnel in Operations
• Provides advanced level training and certification to network operations (i.e. NOC) personnel
The CCNP SP Ops certification is made up of four recommended training courses and four required exams, please review the course and exam overviews listed below.
OFCN Exam: The 642-770 OFCN Operational Foundations for Cisco Service Provider Core Networks exam is an exam associated with the CCNP SP Operations certification. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge the SP network operations environment, focusing on mid-level and upper-level processes-orientation and management tools and methods associated with Tier II and Tier III Network Operations. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the OFCN Operational Foundations for Cisco Service Provider Core Networks course.
Operational Foundations for Cisco Service Provider Core Networks (OFCN) course is designed to provide mid level and upper level personnel exposure to the SP network operations environment, processes-orientation, management tools and methods, and enables students to practice the primary job roles and tasks associated with Tier II and Tier III Network Operations. The course is also intended to help prepare students for the CCNP SP Operations OFCN exam as part of the Cisco Certified Network Professional SP Operations program.
MSPRP Exam: The 642-775 MSPRP Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Routing Protocols exam is an exam associated with the CCNP SP Operations certification. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge and use of Interior Gateway Protocols (IGP), such as OSPF or IS-IS, and exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP), BGP in supporting service-provider environments. It also assesses candidate’s understanding of advanced routing policies using route maps, with Cisco IOS, and the Routing Policy Language (RPL), with Cisco IOS XR. Furthermore, the exam assesses candidate’s knowledge regarding monitoring and troubleshooting these technologies in SP environments. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the MSPRP Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Routing Protocols course.
Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Routing Protocols (MSPRP) course provides learners with the knowledge needed to provide support in a service-provider environment using an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) such as OSPF or IS-IS and the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). It also provides learners with the understanding of advanced routing policies using route maps with Cisco IOS and the Routing Policy Language (RPL) with Cisco IOS XR. The course also focuses on monitoring and troubleshooting of these technologies in SP environments.
MSPVM Exam: The 642-780 MSPVM Maintaining Cisco Service Provider VPNs and MPLS Networks exam is an exam associated with the CCNP SP Operations certification. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge and use of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and associated technologies in supporting service-provider environments. Furthermore, the exam assesses candidate’s knowledge regarding monitoring and troubleshooting MPLS in SP environments. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the MSPVM Maintaining Cisco Service Provider VPNs and MPLS Networks course.
Maintaining Cisco Service Provider VPNs and MPLS Networks (MSPVM) course provides learners with the knowledge needed to provide support in a service- provider environment using Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS). It provides learners with understanding of MPLS and the associated technologies used in SP environments and it provides them with the guidelines on how to monitor and troubleshoot these technologies.
MSPQS Exam: The 642-785 MSPQS Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of Service exam is an exam associated with the CCNP SP Operations certification. This exam tests a candidate’s knowledge of QoS mechanisms to support service-provider environments, focusing on how they are implemented using Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS XR. It also assesses candidate’s understanding of MPLS and associated technologies in SP environments. Furthermore, the exam assesses candidate’s knowledge regarding monitoring and troubleshooting QoS in SP environments. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the MSPQS Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of Service course.
Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of Service (MSPQS) course provides learners with the knowledge needed to provide support in a service-provider environment using quality of service mechanisms. The course focuses the QoS mechanisms, how they are implemented using Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS XR and how to perform monitoring and troubleshooting of QoS in SP environments.
